The tables turn on gender roles.
 

When the male population of Edo is hit by a rogue disease, Japan comes under the rule of a female shogun. Unable to marry the woman he loves, low-ranking samurai Mizuno decides to enter the inner chambers of the shogun’s palace, where young men are secluded from the outside world in a harem plagued by dangerous politics and illicit desires.
